Laugh It Up!!!

Yep, that's right folks, these pictures date back to OCTOBER! I was debating whether or not to even put them on the blog, but then I decided no matter how behind I get I am always going to try and catch up because this is basically my journal and I want these pictures & memories on here for the future. So if you look at my blog, be patient with me and just enjoy the ride! :)

These first two mosaics are from when Gavin and I stayed with Brian and Jaimee for a few days when we were in town. We all went to the pumpkin walk, carved pumpkins, & Gavin & Spencer enjoyed putting on their snow clothes and playing in the first snow of the season! Here’s a big THANK-YOU to Brian, Jaimee, Loran & Marcile (Brent’s parents) for always letting us stay at your houses when we are in town! It is much appreciated!

Also in October my Mom and I took Gavin to the Treehouse Museum in Ogden. I had seen some pictures of it on my friend’s blogs and thought it looked fun so we gave it a try. Gavin loved it! We will definitely be going back there! Jaimee & Spencer were going to come with us but Spencer ended up getting sick, so hopefully they can come next time! I thought it was well worth the trip!
For Halloween this year Gavin wanted to be Spiderman, but the only Spiderman costumes I could find were for older kids and way too big for him. So he was a green dinosaur instead! We went trick-or-treating in Tremonton with my Mom, my Uncle Jason & Aunt Linda, and their cute kids Ireland, Liam & Avery. Then we met up with my sister Ronda, her baby girl Reagan and my Dad and took some pictures...
In November we celebrated Gavin’s 3rd birthday and my 28th birthday. We had a little shin-dig for Gavin at our house and it was fun to get together with family and friends and eat dinner, open presents, visit, etc. For my birthday Brent took me to dinner and to see “New Moon”. It was great! Lately Gavin has also enjoyed going fishing with Grandpa Hirschi. He loves it! He especially loves holding the fish! And the top row, 3rd picture from the left is Jaimee, Me & Ginger. All three of us are prego and due in March! Whenever we’re together we try and get a current belly shot.
Coming up next... December adventures & our NEW HOUSE!

All About Gavin...

I have so much catching up to do on this blog! But with everything going on right now with the holidays, primary & traveling back & forth to Logan so much I haven't had a chance. But hopefully soon! I did want to write down a few things that have been going on with Gavin before I forget.

He always says so cutely, "scoop over!" (instead of scoot) or "scoop me over mom!"

Then the other day as he was waking up from his nap he said in a panicked voice, "Mom! Something is wrong with my hand!" I figured it had fallen asleep so I went in to see. He was so scared and said, "My hand is getting bigger!" I tired to explain to him that it had fallen asleep and when the blood starts coming back into it it tingles and feels like it's getting bigger. He was so worried and was convinced it was getting bigger.

Oh the joys of potty training! I wanted to train him a LONG time ago, but then we moved & I knew we'd have to be settled into our new house for a while so there wouldn't be too many changes at once. Then once we were settled we found out we were expecting and being so sick potty training was the last thing I wanted to do! So now that we're past all of that it was time. It took me a while to figure out the best thing to do that worked for us both. Here are some of the things we tried:

  • 'Potty Wise' (which could have worked but I don't think he was quite ready yet)
  • The 'Potty Watch' (that helped a lot! We still use it sometimes)
  • We made a potty chart that he can put stickers on (he loves it!)
  • I used bribery and told him that if he was potty trained I would take him back to the Treehouse Museum
  • I put a little pressure on him and told him he would have to be potty trained before I would let him go to primary & pre-school
  • One day I let him be a "naked bum" and told him the only place he could go was in the potty because he wasn't wearing a diaper, a pull-up or big boy unders. That worked well and he only had one accident. He loved that but then I realized I didn't want him running around as a "naked bum" all day.
  • Then I got some advice from our cousin Ginger and she said to try this: tell yourself & your child "NO MORE DIAPERS!". It is rough for the first little while when they have accidents but they have those anyway! Once you get past it, you're good to go. And that worked for us. I think it was a combination of everything, but the no more diapers definitely pushed us in the right direction because I kept putting diapers on him before.

I think different things work for different people and this worked for us! I'm glad he is trained now that he is 3 and will start primary & pre-school in January. And it will be nice to have him trained for the holidays!

Okay, this baby is kicking me & I think she's trying to tell me it's time for breakfast! :)

My Adorable Niece, Visitors, Yellowstone, Conference, Best Friends...

First of all I wanted to post something funny Gavin said the other day...

Me: Gavin, will you help me clean up your toys so that I can vacuum?
Gavin: No
Me: I'm gonna spank your bum!
Gavin: Well come over here & spank it then!

Can you believe that? It was really hard not to laugh. He never talks back like that so I was in shock! Where do they learn these things?

`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~`*`~
Now for an up-date with pictures...

My sister & her husband had a baby girl in August and she is beautiful! She weighed 10 lbs & was 22 inches long! Poor Ronda! We are so happy for them to be parents. Here are some pictures of when she was born... (I know, it is really sad that I am just now posting pictures from August!)

And here are some pictures from her blessing day. She is a gorgeous baby! Also in August: Brent's brother, his wife & their 3 adorable boys came from Maryland for a visit! We were glad we got to spend some time with them while they were staying at Brent's parents house. Here are some pictures from their stay & some of us at Tony Grove...

In September we went to Yellowstone with Brent's cousin, his wife & their cute kids. We were hoping to see more wildlife, but that's okay! We still had a good time. We camped there for 3 nights & it was cold but fun! It was Gavin's first time camping in a tent & he loved it! On the way home he said, "I don't want to live in Bear Lake anymore. I want to live in a tent at Yellowstone." Oh boy, no thanks!!!

The Hirschi family has a tradition of going & staying at their family cabin (The Hirschi Hide-out) during conference. I love family traditions like that! We took some four wheelers up the canyon to see the pretty leaves. It was so nice to be with family and listen to conference.

I got to go stay in Park City with my best buddy Wendy a few weekends ago. Her work paid for 3 nights at Hotel Park City (so nice!). Her husband Sean couldn’t go, so she asked me to join her! It was awesome! We actually stayed there a few years ago & had so much fun so I feel spoiled that I got to go again! Thanks Wend! You’re the best & I love ya bunches! (And thanks to my mom for watching Gavin for me so that I could go!)

20 Weeks!?! Where Did the Time Go?

We went to the 20 week ultrasound yesterday and found out we are having a little girl! We are so excited! Gavin was disappointed that it wasn't a brother, but we are convincing him that sisters are the coolest! When the ultrasound technician asked him what he thought of it being a girl he said, "not good". :) I couldn't help but laugh through my happy tears! I know he will be a wonderful big brother and I am excited to see him in that role. I am also excited to see Brent be the daddy to a little girl! ;) Here's the proof...
In the Hirschi family there are three of us sister-in-laws due around the same time! And our cousin-in-law (is that a word?) Ginger is due March 27th! Lots of babies in March! After some due date changes Jaimee & Deb are both due on March 6th! Yesterday the ultrasound tech said I am measuring to be due March 5th, but my doctor won't change my due date so it's still March 8th. So he said I could go early. Or maybe he just doesn't know that Brent and I were both big babies & Gavin was good sized at 8 lbs. 8 oz.! So I'm not too surprised that I'm measuring big.
Here's Jaimee & I posing for our 20 week belly shots!
It is so fun to be pregnant together and have someone to talk to who understands! We were pregnant together last time & our boys are 3.5 months apart. We thought that was close! Now this time we are 2 days apart! So fun!

We always feel so cheesy just standing there with our bellies sticking out, so we thought we'd try some different poses & mix it up a little bit!

I don't want to copy Jaimee's post because I saw she posted these pictures too, but I feel the same way! I am so blessed to have a sister-in-law who is also one of my best friends. We have become so close & I am very grateful to have her in my life! Love ya Jaimee!

So I was working on a different post with a bunch of pictures & goings on from the past few months, but after having the ultrasound & finding out what we're having I had to post about that! So I am writing this in hopes that it will push me to finish that one & get it posted (it's really big!) So check back soon! :)

A Quick Up-date...

Sorry I've been such a slacker about posting lately! Here is some info I falied to mention on my previous post. I am due on March 8th (Brent's birthday is March 7th!). We find out what we are having this Monday (October 19th) so I look forward to posting about that! We are excited to see what baby #2 will be!

Some info about this pregnancy...I was really sick in the beginning so that part wasn't too fun. The nausea, throwing up & everything smelling bad got old fast! But luckily I got on the good medicine early so that has helped. I am very grateful that we can have another baby & Gavin will have a sibling. He is getting excited & whenever I ask him what it is he says "a brother". If I talk about it being a girl he says, "No! I don't want a sister!"

It is so funny the "advice" I get from people who have NO idea! I have to remind myself that they mean well!

Anyway, I need to do some catching up & post pictures, but we'll see how long that takes me! ;)

Lots of Catching Up To Do!

JUNE:

Here are some fun pictures & videos of Gavin playing in Bear Lake. We live a few minutes from the city park and from there you can walk down a boardwalk to the lake. There is hardly ever any people there & it is nice and peaceful. It is so pretty! We love the beach!

One night Brent, Brian & Jaimee's dad, Jim, decided to ride their bikes around the lake! So they got up early the next morning and did it! I think it is somewhere around 48 miles to go around the lake. I know, they are crazy! Good job guys! You are awesome!

We had some friends come over to Bloomington Lake and they invited us to go with them. My cousin, Jacee is working and living with us this summer. She came with us to Bloomington Lake and we are glad to have her around! I didn't think anyone would be brave enough to ride the rope swing, but Brent jumped on & went for a ride and we were all laughing! So the adults gave it a try! We didn't actually jump in the water though because as you can see in the pics/videos it was pretty cold and there was still snow up there! It was so fun and on our hike back we got caught in this CRAZY thunder/hail/rain/snow storm! It was one of the scariest yet coolest things ever! I wish I would have gotten some of it on video but we were too busy running for our lives to the car! Good times!
